A run of fake Professional version HANS posts has been identified, and it is possible they have been fitted to both OE helmets and sold separately. As they are visually the same, the easiest way to identify them is to put a magnet on the metal teardrop shaped area of the post. All genuine HANS posts made since 1995 are magnetic. Be aware that earlier (round post) genuine posts are non-magnetic.
Most of the fake HANS posts have been found on Simpson helmets.
See the HANS guide to check if they are genuine, but encouragingly, HANS has committed to replacing any non-genuine post. Visit www.hansdevice.com if you discover fakes.
