Targa West organisers have announced a brand new Tarmac event, primarily aimed at local West Australian competitors. Targa South West (subject to the usual approvals) will be a warm-up event for the premier WA Tarmac Rally, QUIT Targa West. The event will be staged in the Pemberton/Manjimup region over the weekend of 29-30 May 2010.
Targa South West is not a results based event, it is a fun weekend away with an opportunity to practice under real tarmac rally conditions and test various vehicle configurations. It also offers a great seat time opportunity for both driver and co-driver with approximately 80km of competitive stages including the jewel-in-the-crown 4km town stage, up and down, in and out the streets of Pemberton which will be run twice.
The field will be limited to approximately 50 vehicles, and whilst all vehicles will require a CAMS approved roll cage to be fitted along with the other safety requirements, they will not be restricted to the CAMS Tarmac Rally Technical Regulations.
An Expression of Interest form is on the website that will allow competitors to reserve a place pending the release of the Official Entry forms and associated Supplementary Regulations.
Once the Official Entry forms are available for release, a reservation can then be confirmed and secured by return of the Entry Form along with a $550 deposit at that time.
Sponsorship Opportunities - A number of sponsorship opportunities exist for the new event, including the naming rights. If you are interested, or know of someone who could be interested, please call or email Bob Schrader on 0411 881 909 / bob@targawest.com.au
