

One of New Zealand's greatest drivers and 1967 F1 champ, Denny Hulme, died in 1992 at Australia’s iconic Mt Panorama road circuit in Bathurst, NSW. Hence the name for the island's latest half-million dollar supercar, the Hulme CanAm.
It has a 7.0-liter Chevy V8 developing about 600hp, matched to a six-speed manual or paddleshift sequential. With its weight under a tonne, the 0-100km/h sprint is dusted in a claimed at just 3.5secs.
Only 20 examples of the open top, mid-engined supercar will be built painstakingly by hand, and it costs about $510,000.
Buyers need to lay down a $17,000 deposit which guarantees the build, and the final price includes first-class tickets to Auckland and a week’s accommodation to make sure it fits just right. That, or the purchaser can grab it at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed in England...
