TargaRacing had an extremely successful start to the 2012 Australian Targa Championship with all six cars finishing, posting extremely respectable times in all stages and even getting onto the podium.
Some highlights of the event were the performance of Mark MacKay and Steven Fisher on their first outing together.
“It was Mark's first ever Targa event and he posted a few top-five stage times in Showroom which is amazing,” said Targa Racing's Marketing Manager Adam Spence.
It was also very exciting to see Adam Dodd and Lee Challoner-Miles fight it out with Andrew Mackay and Alex Hailstone over the two days, swapping position after Andrew had the upper hand on day one, and Adam having a huge day on the Sunday to claw back the gap and then extend it," noted Targa Racing’s Chris Gough
“With the team continuing its 100 percent finishing rate, which over some tough stages at Targa High Country is no mean feat, it's a wonderful testimony to the work that Chris Gough puts in to the cars preparation,” added Spence.
To top off what was a thoroughly enjoyable event for all at Targa Racing, Targa High Country saw Adam Spence and Tracey Button, in the team's BMW 130i, secure their first ever podium finish, with 3rd in 2WD Showroom. Having competed in well over 30 events collectively, their first podium finish was a fantastic result.
The team now regroups and prepares for another record, a single team’s entry of seven cars into the second round of the championship at Targa Wrest Point at the end of January.
The team would like to take this opportunity to thank their sponsors, West End Mazda, RaceRecall, Motul, World Manuals, and Holly Connects.
